BM-27 Uragan MLRS (Russian)

The BM-27 (also referred to as 9P140 Uragan) is a 220mm MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) designed and manufactured by the Russian defense industry. The system was designed in the early 1970s, and it was first seen in 1977. The BM-27 is designed to engage any type of group targets, soft-skinned and armoured vehicle and military and industrial defense facilities.  The BM-27 can be easily transported by railway or military transport aircraft, and can be made ready to fire in less than 3 min and leave its firing position after launch of rockets in 90 seconds. This model comprises of a basic body that can be adapted to depict the unit in firing or travelling condition.  Separate sided wheels are provided for the front axle and the remaining axles as appropriate.  It is likely that the wheels will require some fitting because of the limitations of FDM printing.  The front wheels differ in having a rim to assist the crew in mounting the vehicle.  The firing base and missile tube assembly are common to both variants, but the thin rear supports on the base need to be trimmed to permit the angling of the tubes as chosen.  The tubes should be glued onto the base, but the assembly can be mounted at any desired rotation angle.  It normally faces aft for travel, with the tubes depressed slightly (see design assembly drawing).  The appropriate support legs should be glued on to the rear of the body; versions are provided in travel and support position.  Two versions of the firing platform are provided to suit the configurations.  The selected one should be glued to the side of the firing platform; the version with the lowered ladder can be modified to show the ladder in raised position if desired.  Separate parts are provided for the sights on the platform.  These should be glued retracted for travel, or deployed for firing.

A problem was reported in that the hole in the main chassis was too small for the pin on the launcher.  A corrected version has been posted on 12 May 2022.  This version also simplifies many of the files to improve printability, and has added integrated models for resin printing.  The resin models are untested, but should only offer minor issues - please contact me if there are any problems, as I cannot test print them.
