The fighting in 1942 made it clear that the US Army lacked a vehicle for recovering damaged tanks from the battlefield. A conversion program was launched in September 1942, as the M3s were being replaced and a large stock of them was available. Initially called T2 TRV, for Tank Recovery Vehicle

- The models are hollowed out to save resin.
- Total weight of the most complete model (with crew members): 81g
