Hr.Ms. Z 1 Class Torpedo boat

Royal Netherlands Navy Z1-class Torpedo boats. 4 Ships have been build, Z1, Z2, Z3 and Z4.





Hr.Ms. Z3 was the only ship of he class still in service during the German attack on The Netherlands 10th May. Armed with two 75mm Guns and one twin 12.7 mm Machine gun. Part of the IJsselmeer squadron she was tasked to patrol to IJsselmeer to prevent landing attempts in Noord-Holland. 14th May the Z3 was grounded on the causeway of Krabbersgat and set on fire to prevent capture by the Germans.


 

Three versions are included (each version comes with front torpedo-tubes in and out option);

1. As build - Four torpedo-tubes (2 front and 2 aft), two 75 mm guns.  (Z1, Z2, Z3, Z4)


2. Added Two single 12.7mm Machine guns. (Sometime between 1930 ~ 1935)  (Z1. Z2, Z3, Z4)


3. Z3 in the May 1940 setup. No torpedoes, two 75mm guns and 1 twin 12.7mm Machine gun. (This model is also offered separately)


4. Z3 in possible May 1940 setup. Two Front-torpedoes, two 75mm guns and 1 twin 12.7mm Machine gun. (Unclear if the setup ever existed)

The models are provided in 1/1000 scale and are Resin print only.

1/1800 – resize to 55,56%

1/1200 – resize to 83,5%

Bases are provide with "Z1-Class TB"  and also named bases for each ship. And comes in 2 versions. Text recessed and the raised. I used the recessed version for FDM printed bases. Finally a base without text is also included. Do not forget to also re-scale the bases if you print in 1/1200 or 1/1800 scale.

Also included a 1/1800 scale pre-supported models which I used for the test-prints on my Anycubic Mono SE (0.05mm layer) using standard resin. Use at your own risk, might be best you create your own supported files, which prints best on you own printer. Some parts are rather delicate, mainly the gun barrels, and you will need to remove support carefully.

The base was printed on an Ender 5 pro (0.16 mm layer) standard PLA, but feel free to print the Base with a Resin-print, that will give much better text quality.
