Gerard Callenburgh-class Destroyer

The Gerard Callenburgh-class  were a class of 4 planned ships for the Netherlands Royal Navy. Only 2 ships were completed at the time of the German invasion in May 1940.  2 others were under construction and scuttled and destroyed to prevent the Germans to capture the ships.

Hr.Ms. Gerard Callenburgh, scuttled May 1940, but raised by the Germans and commissioned as the German ZH1, torpedoed and scuttled June 1944.

Hr.Ms. Isaac Sweers, towed the the UK and completed. Sunk Nov 1942 by U-431.

Hr.Ms. Tjerk Hiddes, scuttled May 1940, wreck scrapped by the Germans.

Hr.Ms. Philips van Almonde, demolished on the slipway May 1940, wreck scrapped by the Germans.

There are named bases provided, for Isaac Sweers and ZH1, one per ship. And each base comes in 2 versions. Text recessed and the raised. I used the recessed version for FDM printed bases. Do not forget to also re-scale the bases if you print in 1/1200 or 1/1800 scale.

The ZH1 model has the correct main gun turrets, however the AA layout might not be 100% historical correct. I was not able to find good reference to the German AA layout on the ZH1. In 1/1800 the AA will be almost invisible, so should not be a major problem.

Included 1/1800 scale pre-supported model for the Isaac Sweers (Not for the ZH1) which I used for the test-prints on my Anycubic Mono SE (0.05mm layer) using standard resin. Use at your own risk, might be best you create your own supported files, which prints best on you own printer. Some parts are rather delicate, mainly the gun barrels, and you will need to remove support carefully.

The base was printed on an Ender 5 pro (0.16 mm layer) standard PLA.
