M109A2 was a new-build version of the M109A1, with the longer gun, new ballistic shield for the gunners telescope, new turret bustle to increase ammo stowage, and all flotation gear eliminated.
M109A5 is an upgrade of M109A2, so has no flotation gear equiped. It upgrades the M109A2 to near-Paladin status, with the new gun, decontam gear and new electronics. This vehicle is widely exported.
M109A5 rebuild is an upgrade of M109A3, so depending on the age of the vehicle can even have the original twin rear doors, plus full flotation fit (Even though it is never used.)

All hull models have an optional version labeled "no spades". This is used in conjunction with the 3 seperate rear-spade files to allow the spades to be glued in firing or resting-on-the-ground positions, plus a folded set for purists. I will leave assembly of these items to the SLA user, because frankly I'm bored of this set now.

M109A2: Single rear door. No flotation gear. Optional cupploa types.

M109A5 rebuild early: Twin rear doors. Optional cupploa types.

Watch out for the protruding lifting hooks on the rear and front.
