M109 was initial production vehicle, with short cannon. Early vehicles had double doors on hull rear.
M109A1 had gun replaced with a much longer cannon. All M109 in US service were upgraded to this version, so it can have double rear doors if it was an early vehicle before upgrading.
M109A3 was M109A1 upgraded again to match the new-build M109A2 turret.
(M109A5 was yet another upgrade, but is included in the M109A2 pack.)

All hull models have an optional version labeled "no spades". This is used in conjunction with the 3 seperate rear-spade files to allow the spades to be glued in firing or resting-on-the-ground positions, plus a folded set for purists. I will leave assembly of these items to the SLA user, because frankly I'm bored of this set now.

I have called M109 initial version M109A0 to help me manage my files. It is not a proper designation.
