Heavy tank destroyer build on the redundant chassis of the rejected Porsche Tiger contender.  Named Ferdinand after F. Porsche, its designer. Original version sent into action at Kursk, where the lack of a hull mg was shown to be a problem. Survivors were rebuilt with hull mg and commander's cupola, and renamed Elefant.
