The Austin Putilov Armoured Car MkIII was developed locally by the Russians as an improvement of the earlier imported marks receiving slight thicker armour, diagonally offset gun turrets to decrease the cars width and improve fields of fire. Machines were also capable of providing anti-aircraft fire. 60 Chassis where ordered from Great Britain with the provision of a rear driver post. Though these chassis began to be delivered in 1917 it was not until 1918 that some of these vehicle were completed with the final production run of 33 vehicles not being completed until summer 1919 to spring 1920.
Historical dimension: Length 4.92m Width 2.03m Height 2.84m. 5 Crew. Weight 5.2 tons. Speed under 55 km/h and a range of 200 km.
I selected Width as my guiding measurement. The final model is close to the historical dimension at scale. I suspect I have exceeded length and height a little in comparison to historical dimensions. I focused on images which left mudguards off the vehicle.
This listing is intended for resin printing though I suspect that printing in plastic will work reasonably at the 1-56 scale, though some detail on the underside might suffer from support failure.
Files for the Hull, Turrets, Road wheels are provided for the three main scales of 1/100 1/72 & 1/56. Chittu Support files are also provided for your convenice.
Design of the files was done at 1/100 scale and the three test prints were done at 1/72 scale before a final test print at each size.
These models were design by Neal Bowskill Copyright April 2023. No printing of these files for commercial gain is permitted.
