Project 775 large landing ship

Project 775 large landing ships – NATO codification: Ropucha (Polish: toad) – a series of large landing ships (LCSs) of the 2nd rank of the near and far sea zone built in Poland at the Stocznia Polnocna shipyard in Gdansk for the Soviet Navy.

The ships are designed for landing maritime troops on unequipped coasts and transportation of troops and cargoes by sea. They are capable of transporting various types of armored vehicles, including tanks.

Ships of this project are the basis of the Russian amphibious fleet. Until 1977 they were classified as “medium amphibious ships.
