Octagonal lozenge pillbox

$1.95

Lozenge shaped pillboxes are a specific type found only in Northeast England. Usually they are an elongated hexagon., but some are octagonal. The front and rear walls are the longest, followed by the ends (one often with no embrasure), and then the 4 remaining walls are usually very short.

Number of types of embrasures can vary, though a single rifle/LMG loophole in each of the shorter walls and 2 rifle loopholes in the front wall is typical. The rear usually has a small doorway, protected by a blast wall with an internal embrasure defending it. These are often formed of poured concrete into corrugated iron shuttering, with the shuttering running vertically on the shortest walls, and horizontally on the others.

In order to aid with placing models inside, this is designed with a removable roof.

Regional and other variations are also possible, please contact us for further information or with specific requests.
