The Fairmile D “Dog Boat” was the Royal Navy’s answer to the German S-Boats. Although not as fast as the German vessels, they were more seaworthy and carried similar amounts of firepower.
The Dog Boat came in a wide range of versions. At present I have only included the first hull type, which lacked the torpedo “scallops” (numbers 601 through 616 lacked these, all later boats had them).
When delivered, these early dog boats had no torpedoes and were straight MGBs. They were later converted by adding 18″ torpedo launchers.
Since the armament of these boats varied so much I have included a range of guns – though by no means all of the types carried by these boats during the war.
