The Centauro is a family of Italian military vehicles. This is a model of the tank destroyer (armoured car) that has been deployed in operations in Africa and elsewhere. Later versions had additional armour, and will be the subject of a separate design offering.
The vehicle was developed in response to an Italian Army requirement for a tank destroyer with the firepower of the old Leopard 1 main battle tank then in service with the Italian Army, but with greater strategic mobility. The main mission of the Centauro is to protect other, lighter, elements of the cavalry, using its good mobility characteristics, excellent range and cross country ability (despite the wheeled design) and computerized fire control system to accomplish this mission. Centauro entered production in 1991 and deliveries were complete by 2006.
Two versions of this model are provided, one for use on resin printers, and a second for use on fdm printers. It is a detailed model, so some experimentation may be required to optimise the printer model. All files have been re-imported into 3DBuilder, should be relatively clean and free from excessive face errors. Some parts are small, and care needs to be taken in cleaning and aligning these small parts. Turrets are separate, and can be rotated. The resin models are hollow to minimise the use of the raw material.
Later versions of this vehicle will be provided later as time permits.
The product is offered for personal, non-commercial use. Derivative designs for personal use may be generated, but neither the original nor derivatives may be shared with others. Attribution of the design is requested should printed models be exhibited or otherwise shared. Models printed from this design or derivatives may not be sold commercially.
