I made these as I came to realize that you can game pretty much in any era out there as long as you want to play in Europe. My play group needed something other than the same European village to drive over for our 15mm Cold War games, so I said…Red Dawn was a thing, lets do rural 80’s US. I grew up there so it was as simple as digging up memories to put them on the table top. Models are designed in 15mm, so scaling up or down hasn’t been tested.
The town water tower. From a gaming standpoint, it doesn’t do much. But it certainly adds character to the table. I’ve included two water tower tanks…one blank, one with the home of the Wolverines – Calumet, Colorado. This isn’t a direct take on the water tower in the movie, but it is the type of water tower I remember from the towns I visited growing up.
All models are printed on an Ender 3 with PLA+ and in this case a Mars 2. Support structure is supplied split and assembled. I printed the split version on my Ender 3 with a brim and very minimal clean up. The railing will also print on an FDM machine, but be sure to print it in the two separate pieces and print the railing file “upside down”. If you do that, it will print with no supports. The FDM platform base will need a bit of clean up in the grooves to make sure the platform legs will print.
