PACV (SK-5)
The PACV was a US version of the British SR.N-5 hovercraft.
3 were deployed to Vietnam for two trial deployments over 4 years (1965-1969), patrolling the Mekong River Delta.
Several cosmetic changes were visible on the units for the second deployment, (decking, fold-up access ladders, vented rear boxes) which I have called “late”.
Painted with eyes and sharksmouth, these iconic vehicles have fame which far exceeds their numbers.
All vehicles printed sitting on their bases.
Turret printed with guns horizontal.
Propeller printed face up.
M60-cutdown and handrails printed on their side.
Radar printed in correct orientation.
Remove raft then clear out fins from the inside first. You will need to cut gently down on each side of the inverted-vee engine braces to free the support.
Simple versions of the turret and hull are provided which fill in assorted holes. It still looks fine, and is *much* easier to clean up for FDM.
Handrails are provided as seperate parts – fold and glue into place.
For STL, use the “with handrail versions”. I don’t recommend the “with handrails” for use with FDM, because I couldn’t clean it up successfully.
